Julia Herrick Wolf, 91, was born August 2, 1932 in Farmer City, IL. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on September 7, 2023. Julia Wolf received her BS in Social Work from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. She then moved to New Orleans as a Social Worker for Catholic Charities Adoption Agency. While in New Orleans, she met and married her husband, Bolyn Wolf. She was a founding parishioner of Resurrection of Our Lord Parish in New Orleans. As a devout Catholic, she participated in Marriage Encounter with her husband, Bo. Julia was active in the Charismatic Renewal movement, a member of a weekly Prayer Group, and received the Regina Matrum Award (awarded by Archdiocese of New Orleans). She was a Eucharistic Minister, volunteered in the Altar Society and the Resurrection of Our Lord Mother’s Club. She also became very active in the Small Church Communities movement. After Katrina, Julia and her husband moved to Prairieville, LA where they joined St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Ascension Parish. She was instrumental in the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, participated in a weekly Rosary group, continued as Eucharistic minister, small Church Community Prayer group leader and Alter society. She enjoyed being a mother and proudly told everyone she was a homemaker. She was happiest when gathering for family events and sharing her Catholic faith. She enjoyed going to daily Mass for most of her life, bird watching, gardening, baking and watercolor painting. Julia is survived by two daughters, Mary Claire Wolf Munoz and spouse, John David Munoz Jr. and Laurie Renee Wolf Miester and spouse, Mark Miester; two sons, Joseph Bolyn Wolf and spouse, Renee Saucier Wolf and Daniel Herrick Wolf; and five grandchildren, Joseph Wolf and spouse, Liddy Morris Wolf, Michael Wolf and spouse, Jillian Bailey Wolf, Mary Elizabeth Wolf, Reagan Wolf, and Julia Mary Miester. Julia is preceded in death by her husband, Bolyn Jacob Wolf; parents, Laura and Wayne Herrick; three brothers, Robert, Donald, and Richard Lott Herrick; and one sister, Martha Herrick Freygang. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 15208 Hwy 73 Prairieville, LA 70769, on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Lake Lawn Park Cemetery, 5400 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Joseph Wolf Jr., Michael Wolf, Reagan Wolf, Dave Odland, Mark Miester and John Munoz Jr. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the National Right to Life Organization or the EWTN Global Catholic Television Network.
