

On January 24, 1961, Julian Major was born to Mary Ann Major and Wilson James of Shrewsberry, Louisiana. Julian and his mother later moved to St. Rose, LA, and he was educated in The St. Charles Parish School System. He retired from IMTT after 25 years of dutiful work. In 1984 Julian was joined in holy matrimony with Letha L. Batiste. Together they welcomed two handsome sons, Julian Jr. and Joshua. After several years of living in St. Rose, Julian and his family later moved to Geismar, Louisiana.
Julian's favorite pastime was being with his family, especially his treasured grandkids. He also enjoyed cooking and going on cruises with his wife. Julian was a friend to many in the St. Rose Community. He enjoyed telling stories about his youth and enjoying a good laugh as well as Smooth R&B music. Julian hadn't been well in the past few years, but he woke up every day with a smile on his face.
On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 7:45 pm, Julian answered the Lord's call, and he peacefully fell asleep with the Lord. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife of 40 years, Letha Batiste Major, his 2 sons, Julian Jr. and Joshua Major (Stacy), his precious grandchildren; Samirah, Josiah, Jaylyn and Sadie. He also leaves to cherish his memories his father, Wilson James (Wilmareen). four sisters, Elaine Bates, Orlando James, Andrea Manuel (T.J.) and Chiwana Jones (Henry). He also leaves behind two Brother-in-laws, Ernest Batiste and Hurley Lewis (Marshaina); four Sisters-in-Law, Claudette Batiste, Lynette Houston (Glen), Latasha Bukaske (Gary), and Shuntha Morgan (Alvin).
He is survived by a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. Julian was preceded in death by his Mother, Mary Ann Turner and Step-father, Joseph Turner, one sister, Dion James and his Father and Mother-in-Law, James and Flora Batiste as well as his grandparents and great-grandparents.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 from 12:00PM-1:00PM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales,LA, 70737. Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00PM.
