Karen Ann "Kay Kay" Matherne

GONZALES – Funeral Services will be conducted for Ms. Karen Ann “Kay Kay” Matherne, age 50, at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home with Deacon Eddie Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery in Gonzales. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday. The funeral home will reopen at 9:00 am on Wednesday and remain open until service time at 11:00 am. A native of New Orleans and a resident of Gonzales, Ms. Matherne passed away at 7:51 am on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Kay Kay loved her family dearly. She was very close to them and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her family. She is survived by her daughters, Surell McBride and husband Aaran and Amy Freeman and husband Matthew; mother, Bertha Matherne; sisters, Dolly Lowery, Terri Bland, Debbie Fox, Peggy Christen; brothers, Gilbert Matherne, Jr., Bobby Matherne and grandchildren, Logan and Mason Freeman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Durel P. Doucet; father, Gilbert Matherne, Sr.; father-in-law, Durel Joseph Doucet and brother-in-law, Archie J. Lowery, Jr. Pallbearers will be Michael Christen, Donald Christen, Jr., Rayne Plaisance, Rhyhan Plaisance, Bobby Matherne, Jr. and Josh Matherne.
