Kevelyn Paul Babin

GONZALES – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Kevelyn Paul Babin, age 81, at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St. Mark Catholic Church with Rev. Rubin Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday at Ourso Funeral Home Chapel and again on Wednesday morning at St. Mark Catholic Church from 9:00 am until service time at 10:00 am.

A native and resident of Gonzales, Mr. Babin passed away at 2:36 pm on Sunday, December 14, 2014 of natural causes. He was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, St. Mark Ushers Society, Seventh District Fire Department, The Jambalaya Association and was a lifetime follower and friend of the Na Na Sha Band. Mr. Babin was also retired from the Ormet Corporation located in Burnside, Louisiana.

He is survived by his daughters, Loretta Gautreaux and husband Ruckle, Linda Martin and husband Kenny, Lisa Laurent and husband Brent, Laurie Miller, Lola Dunaway and husband Keith; sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Babin and wife Geri, Karl Babin; sisters, Rita Melancon, Ruth Duplessis, Hazel Melancon; sister-in-law, Deloris Babin; brother-in-law, Venonce Bourgeois; grandchildren, Klayton “Klay” and Andrea “Andi” Babin, Corey, Scott and Tiffany Gautreaux, Eric and Brooke Babin, Matthew, Amanda and Rebecca Martin, Travis and Shane Laurent, Taylor Miller Tarrow, Jace and Kaily Dunaway; great grandchildren, Jansen, Annabella, Luke, and Ethan Gautreaux and Keegan Cockrell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorita Lambert Babin; mother, Juliet Young Babin Mayers; father, Leus Babin; sisters, Evelyn “Totsy” Lambert, Elma “Shy” Bourgeois; brother, Robert “Boo” Babin and very special friend, Vivian Ausbon.

Pallbearers will be Klayton “Klay” Babin, Corey and Scott Gautreaux, Eric Babin, Matthew Martin, Travis and Shane Laurent.

Jace Dunaway will serve as honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mr. Babin’s name to St. Joseph Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. The family would also like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for the excellent care and loving environment they provided.
