

Lester D. Sylvester born Dec 30, 1943, a native of Washington, LA and a resident of Prairieville, passed away on May 28, 2021 at 5:38 pm at the age of 77. He was the owner of La Siding & Windows for 30 years, a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and its Usher’s Society and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Lester was a life-long fan of drag racing. He belonged to Baton Rouge Corvette Club and the Grumpy Old Men Classic Car Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Sadie McMurray Sylvester, his parents, Max Sylvester and Edna Huguet Sylvester; brother, John Ellis Sylvester and wife, Patricia. He is survived by wife Clovis Carraway Sylvester; nephews, John Ellis Sylvester Jr. (Lois) of Winona, MS, and Lynn Sylvester (Michele) of Corinth, TX.; nieces, Shirley Hazel (Dick) of Conroe, TX., and Cindy McNenney (George) of Conroe, TX.; brother-in-law, Mackie McMurray of Denham Springs; step son, Chad A. Smith (Terri) of Baton Rouge; great nieces and nephews and his beloved cats, Sunny and JJ and many good friends and a special dear friend, Kent “Pops” Villagomez. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on June 1, 2021 from 5 pm until 8 pm at Ourso funeral home in Gonzales. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin, will be held on June 2, 2021 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. Burial will follow in Washington, La.
