Martha Nickens

Martha Sevario Nickens passed away on January 2, 2022 at the age of 67. She has been a lifelong resident of Galvez, Louisiana. She was the loving wife of Rayford Nickens for over 51 years. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children; Colby Nickens (Rhea), Ashley Nickens DeVall (Eric) and Courtney Nickens Duhe (JJ), her grandchildren; Caleb Nickens, Jessi Nickens, Gracie DeVall, Molly DeVall, Lilly DeVall, Violet DeVall, Charlie Duhe and Sawyer Duhe, her great-grandchild LaKoda Nickens, her nephew who saw her as another mother Brian Nickens and her brother Randall Sevario. She has now rejoined those who have gone before her, her granddaughter Audrie DeVall, her parents Ethel Parker Sevario and JW Sevario and her brothers Bobby and Roger Sevario. She is also survived by numerous family members and friends.

Martha was a woman of many talents, but first and most important to her heart was being a devoted homemaker for her family. She loved to do arts and crafts, refinish furniture and cooking for everyone. She was well known for her beautiful singing voice to many. Martha could often be found on her back porch drinking a cup of coffee and talking with anybody who came to visit. Her love for her family and friends had no bounds. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at the Carpenter’s Chapel Church in Prairieville on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 11AM, the visitation will begin at 9AM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Colby Nickens, Caleb Nickens, Eric DeVall, JJ Duhe, Drake Laney, Josh Martinez, Charlie Duhe and Sawyer Duhe.
