Mary "Moon" Linda (Melancon) Myers

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” “Gone where?” Gone from my sight, that is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just able to bear the load of living freight to her destined port. Her diminished size is in me not her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” There are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes”. Moon a resident of St. Amant, passed away on October 12, 2021, at the age of 78. She was a 35 year employee of EATEL. Moon enjoyed cooking, music, traveling, the beach and gardening flowers and plants. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter D. Melancon and Anna Mae Simon Melancon. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Melancon Carpenter (Adam Duhe); two grandchildren, Chase Carpenter (Katie) and Sadie Carpenter Melancon (Beau); one great granddaughter, Marybeth Carpenter. Moon is also survived by all of her siblings, Robert A. Melancon (Wendy), Rheba M. Anderson, Joan M. Melancon, Velford “Byrd” Melancon (Debbie) and Curtis L. Melancon; Goddaughter, Therese Alexander, Godson, Cliff J. Melancon, Jr., and multiple other beloved nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer special thanks to Azalea Estates, Clarity Hospice and @HomeCare of LA. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant, LA on Monday, October 18, 2021 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Adam Duhe, Chase Carpenter, Jeff Alexander, John Mark Ramirez, III, Cliff Melancon, Jr. and Clint Melancon.
