She has now re-joined those who have gone before her in their heavenly home; her loving husband Vincent Joseph “VJ” Purpera Jr., her daughter, Nancy Kathleen Purpera Morton, her parents Gertie Melancon Trabeau and Septine “Jgu” Trabeau and her sister Shirley Savoy.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her daughter, Rhonda Purpera, 2 sons, Darrell Purpera and wife Terri, and Blane Purpera and wife Amy; 8 grandchildren, Shane and Alicia Morton, Vince, Mikhail, Nicholas, Angelo and Fiella Purpera, and Jeana Rowan; and 3 great-grandchildren, Nolan and Ava Rowan and Sofia Purpera.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed decorating the house for every season and having everybody over for gathering. If you were going to Mary’s you knew she would have some delicious food for everybody, she loved to cook. She also enjoyed her weekly card games with her girlfriends for many years. Spending time with family and friends was truly her favorite pastime, that and traveling, especially to the Smokey Mountains. She will truly be missed by all of those who knew and loved her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at New River Baptist Church, 45270 LA-429, Saint Amant, LA. The visitation will begin at 9:00AM with a service to start at 11:00 AM. Mary will be laid to rest in Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales, Louisiana. Fond memories and words of condolence can be expressed at www.OursoFH.com for the Purpera family.
