A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mercy Vicknair Babin on Monday, November 19, 2018, 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Prairieville. Visitation will take place at church Monday morning starting at 9:30 am and will continue until Mass begins. Burial will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Mausoleum. Mrs. Babin passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2018. She was 91 years old. Mrs. Babin is survived by her daughter, Sherry Gautreau and husband Remi; son, Darron J. Babin; sister, Gloria Gregoire; sister-in-law, Olivia Vicknair; 4 grandchildren, Gretchen Mayeaux, Kiersten Brignac and husband Ryan, Kalyn Robert and husband Chip, David Babin; 9 great-grandchildren, Baylie Higgins, Braxtyn and Braylon Mayeaux, Berkley and Boston Brignac, Miller and Ry Robert, David Babin, Jr. and Hailey Babin. She is preceded in death by her parents, Amaluce Vicknair, Sr. and Althea Fontenot Vicknair; first spouse, Eldred Babn; second spouse, Amrose Allen; longtime friend, Joe Gregoire; 2 brothers, Charles Vicknair and Amaluce “T-June” Vicknair, Jr. and wife Bertha; sister, Velma Tureau and husband Pete; sister, Nita “Pap” White and husband Ed; brother-in-law, Dewey Gregoire, brother-in-law, Caleb Babin and wife Julia; brother-in-law, Curtis Babin and wife Josie and daughter-in-law, Karen B. Babin. Pall bearers will be Braxtyn Mayeaux, Braylon Mayeaux, David Babin, Kevin Vicknair, Terry Vicknair, Derrick Watts, Tim Babin and Timmy Vicknair. Honorary pallbearers will be Dougie Gregoire and Eric Gregoire. The family would like to thank Dr. Carey Aguillard, the staff at Ascension Oaks, Marvelett Dorsey and sitter Sandra Smythe and for the outstanding care they provided to Mrs. Babin.
