Born September 5, 1931, Myra was a graduate of Gonzales High School Class of 1948. She was quick witted and always up for a good joke. She absolutely loved to dance and did so at every opportunity, although in later years it was reduced to toe tapping, which she did fervently.
Myra, most definitely a “people” person, enjoyed travel and socializing anytime, anywhere. Always ready to go wherever life would take her.
She enjoyed sewing and quilting – specially making lap quilts for St. Jude. As the golden years set in Myra enjoyed playing SkipBo with family and friends, reading, working word search puzzles and spent a great deal of time with the Lord in prayer.
Myra spent many years being a stay home mom, but eventually life led her to the workplace. She worked in the cafeteria at Dutchtown school a while, then managed the Gazebo Grill and Burger Delite! She went to work at Sno’s Seafood as a waitress when it first opened, which she absolutely loved! After 6 ½ years, she moved to Bon Lieu Drugs where she managed the front for 12 ½ years. Again, all jobs that required “people” skills!
Myra instilled in her children good Christian values, a great work ethic, and a generous caring personality. These were all important issues to her and she passionately passed them on! She loved her family dearly!
Myra is survived by her children: Mike Broussard Sr. (Marsha King), Phyllis Stevens (Bob), Steve Broussard (Tammie Morgan), Carla Edmonston (Murphy), and Jerry “Jug” Broussard (Cindy Mayer).
She has 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by many family members and 2 husbands – John D. Broussard Jr. and Golden “Cookie” Melanson.
Special thanks to Charlotte Tinnon for bringing communion and fellowship. And thanks to Beverly Braud (Niece), who brought love and support and many creature comforts to her Aunt Myra!
Myra’s life and legacy can best be described in her motto: “Live, Love and Laugh”. Her warm, bright smile will be greatly missed.
