

Noreen Elizabeth Ward Mazzaroppi, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday July 13, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. A resident of Prairieville, LA, she was born June 29, 1945 in Jersey City, New Jersey. After moving to the Jersey shore at a young age, she spent many happy years in Middletown before moving in 1988 first to Baton Rouge, and later to Prairieville. A graduate of Middletown Township High School she also studied accounting at Brookdale Community College.
Noreen loved the Lord and was a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. Camping, traveling, the beach, sewing and reading were some of her favorite activities. Her love of quilting was second only to that of her children and grandchildren. After retiring as a bookkeeper, she opened The Quilt Room, a professional quilting service. Noreen was a charter member and one of the founders of The Giving Quilt, Inc. She was also an active and long- time member of the Gulf States Quilting Association, Stashbuilders Quilt Guild, River City Quilt Guild and others. It was through these organizations that she met many of her very dear friends and was known for her altruism.
Noreen is preceded in death by her parents Clara and Arthur Ward and her in-laws Doris and Thomas Mazzaroppi. She is survived by her devoted and loving caregiver and husband of 51 years, Philip, her two daughters and “sons” Tamara and her husband Richard Nelson (Middletown, NJ) and Kerri and her husband Jason Crumb (Metairie), four beloved grandchildren, Jason and Garrett Crumb, Jasper and Julia Nelson. Also sisters Patricia Adevai (Morristown, TN), Francis Duffy (Matawan, NJ) and Carol Fanner (Jerry) (Abbeville, GA), brothers James Cusanelli (Lake George, NY), Arthur Ward (Equinunk, PA) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Highway, Gonzales, LA on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 12663 Perkins Road Baton Rouge on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian burial is celebrated by Rev.
