He graduated from Dutchtown High School (1961) and married his high school sweetheart, Clara Ann Womack. Together, they raised their family in Gonzales, La. Bob retired from Motiva (Texaco/Star Enterprises) after 34 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, golfing, and most of all being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Clara Womack deVeer; children, Robert (Lori Goodson) deVeer, Vicki (Paul) Frick, Jeff (Stacy Rogers) deVeer; grandchildren, Colby (Britney Blanchard) deVeer, Erica (Corey) Ikerd, Joshua (Alanna Jeffcoat) Frick, Nicholas (Madison Rankin) deVeer, Jordan Frick, Brooke (Jake) Babin, and Jacob Frick; great grandchildren, Charlotte deVeer, Harper Ikerd, Hunter deVeer and Baby Babin arriving soon. He’s also survived by brothers, Roy (Kathy Babin) deVeer and his twin, Larry deVeer, and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends whom he always considered his “immediate” family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Mildred deVeer and his older brother Clifford (CL) deVeer Jr. Bob will be remembered most for his love of his family, the twinkle in his eyes, and never ever meeting a stranger. A private internment memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

The legacy one leaves behind is unmatched by any words that can be written. Mr. Bob surely left his mark on this world and all who knew him. Twenty-eight years ago, he walked into our office as a patient, he leaves as a friend. I was so honored to be able to share in his life, bragging about his amazing wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His stories of his GOOD golf games and not so good games always shared with laughter and a smile. He was truly one of the best. Wishing you all peace and comfort during this time. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

So very sorry to hear of Mr Bobby's passing. My prayers to Mrs Clara and the family. Many good memories of him, one that stands out is him picking Colby up once a month for them to go get a haircut. May he rest in peace.
