Robert “Bob” Gerald Heath, 59, a native of Baton Rouge, LA., and a resident of Gonzales, LA., died on Monday, July 17, 2023. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Hooper Heath; and parents, Robert J. and Geraldine C. Heath. He is survived by his companion Paulette Marchand; daughters, Chelsea (Ryan) Heath-Beverage and Cassie (Christopher) Heath Rhoads; stepdaughter, Maegon (Justin) Ruiz; sisters, Darlene (Willie) Lamendola, Donna (Jeff) Hutchinson, and Tracy Heath; and grandchildren, Beckham Ruiz and Knox Ruiz. Pallbearers honored to serve are Jason Barrow, Luke Landry, Cory Gautreaux, Ryan Beverage, Chris Rhoads, Jeff Hutchinson, Michael Perdue, Ty Hebert, and Jeff Hooper. Bob was graduate of EAHS’ Class of 1982. He won the 1980 boys All-Around Louisiana Gymnastics State Championship as a sophomore. Later that year, Bob finished 5th overall at the 1980 AAU Junior Olympics at the University of Santa Clara in California. His All-American Prowess as a gymnast earned him a permanent place of honor in the East Ascension High School Hall of Fame. After graduation, Bob served his hometown as an officer in the Gonzales Police Department and later as a Deputy for the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office. After his career in Law Enforcement, he worked in the Industrial Sector for a number of companies. In his free time, he could be found hunting, fishing, and exploring favorite places like Cade’s Cove, TN. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation which will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy., Gonzales, LA., on Friday, July 21, 2023 from 8:30AM until service time at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Stevens Cemetery in Gonzales, LA. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dwayne Labatut, NP and Ms. Lynn. Also, OLOL HVC ICU Dr. Moshin Pasha along with the nurses for going above and beyond. The family would also like to give a special thanks to LOPA.
