Rylan Thomas Mendoza

Rylan Thomas Mendoza was granted his angel wings at 7 years old on October 16, 2012, following a lifelong illness. He peacefully passed away in the loving arms of his family at home. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Rylan had touched in some small way, throughout his short, yet very memorable life.

Rylan’s life would seem too short to many, but for those who were touched by him, understood that the quality of existence far exceeds quantity of time in which you live it. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him and though he never spoke a word, his voice and thoughts could always be heard.

Although Rylan’s illness made him appear frail, he possessed strength, perseverance, the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. He could spend hours rocking in his mommy’s arms and cuddling with those he loved so much. He enjoyed listening to his music and watching Yo Gabba Gabba. He loved riding the golf cart, listening to the sounds of children and especially their laughter and crying which would make him smile and sigh with contentment. He enjoyed his time at school with his friends and spent most of his afternoons kicking and singing to his family while playing with his dog Bentley and cat Mustachio.

With Rylan’s passing we remind others that his life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile, he will always remain forever in our hearts. Through his teachings about life, we were able to create wonderful memories and it has been a privilege to be his parents. We are so thankful Rylan’s brother, Logan, and sister, Lyndon, shared so many precious memories they will hold forever in their hearts.

Rylan is survived by his loving parents, Jason and Kelly Mendoza; Brother Logan; Sister Lyndon; Maternal Grandparents Kendall and Cheryl Hill; Paternal Grandmother Grace Mendoza; Aunts & Uncles Tim and Jenny Mendoza, Russell and Tonya Mendoza Babin, Cory Beaver, Jesse and Beth Beaver, Daniel and Laci Hill, Darren and Sadie Hill, Kendra Hill and Kamryn Hill; Cousins Angela and Kaityln Mendoza, Baily Mendoza, Jessie and Cody McCarty, Lossin Beaver, Mason and Madison Hill.

He was preceded in death by his womb brother, Eastyn James; Maternal Grandfather Jim Beaver, Paternal Grandfather Frank Mendoza, Uncle John Thomas “Tommy” Mendoza and also by his Maternal and Paternal great grandparents.

Visitation will be held Thursday October 18, 2012, from 9:00 a. m. until religious services at 12 p.m. at Ourso Funeral Home 13533 Airline Hwy. - Gonzales, La. with graveside services to follow at Oak View Baptist Church, Livingston, La.
