
A native of Vivian and a resident of Gonzales, she died early Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge. She was 79. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service with more than 20 years of service. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Ascension Baptist Church on Thursday, Jan. 19, from 8:30 a.m. until the Rev. Keith Crider conducts religious services at 10 a.m. Burial in Hope Haven Mausoleum, Gonzales. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James Randall "Randy" and Stacy Loyd, Dallas, Pa., Michael Keith "Mike" and Kathy Loyd, Baton Rouge, and Douglas Harold "Doug" and Carri Loyd, Atoka, Tenn.; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Kenneth Harris, Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandchildren, Rachel and Chris Mitchell, Pace, Fla., Jeffrey Loyd, Baton Rouge, and Andrew Loyd, Raleigh, N.C., and Triston Loyd, Pensacola, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Duke and Hallie Mitchell, Pace, Fla.; and her dear and special friend, Charles "Chuck" Harrison, Gonzales. She was preceded in death by her parents; Robert Hamilton and Sallie Tigert Jones; husband, Ralph Harold "Red" Loyd; and brother, James Robert "Sonny" Jones. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Loyd, Andrew Loyd, Brent Templet, Wade Harrison, Tony Laporte and Kenneth Harris.
