Sheila Johnson Halker

Sheila Johnson Halker passed away on February 28, 2026 at the age of 77. She was a native of Biloxi, Mississippi and a longtime resident of Gonzales, Louisiana. She was a loving and dedicated mother, Maw Maw, sister and friend to many. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children, Jaime Gautreau (Cindy), Kristie Balfantz (Todd) and Jodie Sullivan (Jeff); her grandchildren, Carter and Caleb Gautreau, Kirsten Gautreau, Dane and Ian Balfantz and Laine Sullivan and her great-grandson, Bec Guedry. She is also survived by her sister Kathy Sanders (Tony), her longtime companion Ronnie Halker and numerous family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Lawton and Helen Johnson and her siblings, Johnny Johnson and Linda Braud.

Sheila was a retired LPN, it was always in her nature to be the caregiver to others. She was a gymnastics coach for many years and traveled the United States as a judge. Sheila loved her family unconditionally and was thrilled when she was promoted to Maw Maw. It truly warmed her heart to be at every event she could make and be the house for numerous gatherings. She will be greatly missed by all of those who knew and loved her.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Parc Assisted Living and Hospice of Baton Rouge for the compassion and care they showed Mrs. Sheila and family.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, LA 70737 on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9AM and the service will start at 12 Noon. Shelia will be laid to rest at Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales, LA. Those serving as pallbearers are Dane Balfantz, Carter Gautreau, Ian Balfantz, Caleb Gautreau, Bec Guedry and Jeremy Johnson. Arrangements under the care of Ourso Funeral Home – Gonzales, LA
