

Sterling Andrew Diez went home to be with the Lord on Saturday October 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM after a long bout with cancer. Sterling will be remembered as a quiet loving family man, who with his wife Shirley, leaves behind a family legacy of love and caring. Sterling was born August 25, 1927 to Mary (Kling) & Ulysses (Pook) Diez. He graduated from LSU in 1951. Sterling was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He served as a past president of the East Ascension Sportsmans League and a retired employee of Rubicon Chemicals. Sterling was a cabinet builder for friends and family, erring to perfection. He was an avid Fisherman with the walls of his camp filled with trophies from his bass fishing. He was an amazing gardener at an early age and was active with his father in a custom cane syrup mill at their grocery store on Hwy 74 Coontrap Road (Now Chef KD's). Sterling was a Cook Extraordinaire (his recipes are still Dale and Kevin's pride and joy) He also assisted Kevin in the early years of Diez Seafood aka Chef KD's Louisiana Legends. Sterling is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Landry Diez; sons, Kevin (Chef KD) Diez and wife, Collette (DeGruy) Diez, Dale Diez and wife, Natalie (Myers) Diez; grandchildren, Tessa (Diez) Renaud and husband, Mike Renaud, Wes Diez and Fiancée' ,Chelsea Poirrier, Nicole( Diez) Klasen and husband, Ryan Klasen, Mindy Diez, Abigail Diez, Amanda Diez, Matthew Diez; Great-grandchildren, Gabriel Renaud , Faith Renaud, Grace Renaud , Ava Marie Renaud , Vander Renaud , Keaton Renaud , Jacee Diez , Mason Diez, Aria Diez; brother, Ronnie Diez, Wilbur "Ting" Diez; sister, Sue Diez. Sterling is preceded by brothers, Anthony "Tony" Diez, Uton "Brother" Diez, Ulysses "Kank" Diez Jr.; sisters, Jackie (Diez) Rusha and Giovanni (Diez) Singletary. Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Friday, October 14, 2016 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.
