

Steven Sheese was a lead operator for Cargill Oilseed and served in the U.S. Army for 15 years, a recruiter for six of those years. A resident of Prairieville and a native of Munich, Germany, he passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at 12:10 a.m. at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston at the age of 44. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Raymond Wade, minister. Burial will follow at Hope Haven Cemetery, Prairieville. Survived by his wife, Melissa LaCroix Sheese, Prairieville; mother, Ingrid Bleibtreu Sheese; two daughters, Angelle Renae LaCroix and Kelli Rae LaCroix, both of Prairieville; a sister, Jasmin Sheese Gautreau, Prairieville; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Reggie Sheese and Walter "Derek" and Georgie Sheese, both of Prairieville. He is also survived by 15 nieces and nephews, mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law, Mary LaCroix Hermosillo and Nohe Hermosillo, Prairieville; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Terrie LaCroix, Walker, Deneen and Frank Draves, of Lake Charles, and Suzanne and Shane McKay, of Walker. He was preceded in death by his father, Manuel J. Sheese Jr.; paternal grandparents, Manuel J. Sheese Sr. and Virginia S. Sheese; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Wilhelminie Bleibtreau; father-in-law, Richard F. LaCroix.
