

Teddy Ray Rushing passed away on June 15, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was a retired employee of Ormet and owner of the Gonzales Chevron. He was a Charter member of the Gonzales Boat Club, the Gonzales Jambalaya Association, and the Gonzales Committee on Cultural Affairs. He was a graduate of Gonzales High in 1953 and Southwestern University in Lafayette, LA in 1957. He was an avid fisherman, cook, husband, father and grandfather. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA on Friday, June 17 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Saturday June 18, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m, with mass being held at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Eric Gyan, celebrant. Entombment will take place in Hope Haven Mausoleum in Gonzales, LA following mass. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Richardson Rushing; daughters Kelly Rushing Osterhout and Rachelle Rushing Johnson, son-in-law Randy Johnson, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norma B. Rushing and Ray Rushing; mother/father-in-law, Sidney and Lydia Richardson; his two brothers, Norris and Charles Rushing; his son, Teddy Bart Rushing, and his daughter, Nannette Rushing Waguespack.
