Terry McKee passed away on Lundi Gras in Baton Rouge, LA. His life began in Chicago during the Great Depression and, because of that, was always grateful for things that came his way. His draft was deferred until after graduating from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He then chose to move towards a warmer climate and went to work for Shell Oil in Norco, LA, as a Chemical Engineer. A year later, he relocated again to serve our country in the Korean War, as a corporal in the U. S. Army. He returned to the US and to his career at Shell, which spanned 41 years. After Hurricane Betsy demolished the old Jefferson Downs Race Track, he spent years donating his time on the advisory board working to help create Lafreniere Park.
He met & married Betty and, together, they raised 2 daughters, Nicole (& John) and Heather (& Doug). He is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Lauren (& Jeff), Jacob, Amy (& Joe) & Katherine; 3 great grandchildren; his sister, Dawn, a niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James E. McKee & Elizabeth (nee Grow) and 4 siblings: Patricia, Emmett, Bartley & Marie.
A private gathering to celebrate and honor his memory will be held at a later date.
