Brenda Joyce Abernathy

Brenda Joyce Abernathy (Blankenship) was born on Tuesday, September 10, 1940 at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. Her parents, Georgia Etta and Chesley Clemmons Blankenship, along with her three older siblings welcomed her. Brenda was the fourth born out of five to her parents.

Brenda attended Shwab Elementary and goodlettsville high school where she graduated with her diploma. She went on to marry the love of her life, Oliver Herbert Abernathy Jr. They married on June 26, 1958, and spent 67 wonderful years together. They have two incredible sons, Ken and Keith.

Brenda was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family was everything to her. She found joy in being involved with her son’s sporting events, bowling, and spending time with her family. She spent many years as a member of the red hat society and a fabulous bunco club. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her entire world and she spent as much time possible with them all.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Chesley and Georgia, her sister Mary, her two brothers Charles and Earl Dean, her husband Oliver and her granddaughter Meagin.

Brenda was survived by her sister Barbara (Donnie), her two sons Kenneth and Keith (Terrin), her grandchildren Josh, Paige (Patrick), Adam, and her great grandchildren Easton and Emerson.

Brenda’s arms were always open and she welcomed any and everyone that she crossed paths with. She was a woman strong in her faith and her love for the Lord was unmatched. She was adored by all that knew her and to know her was to love her. She will be so greatly missed by all.
