I met Mr. Thrasher in the singing conventions.  I knew of his songs long before I was actually acquainted with him.  He was always encouraging young people.  Although it has been a few years, each time I saw him he always had a kind word of inspiration and a smile on his face.  He will be missed.

Mr. Thrasher was a fine man, we met and knew him through Cumberland Valley School of Gospel Music and enjoyed being at many of the same gospel singings together. He as a fine song  writer, singer, and director, and as I was a pianist, he often called on me to play piano for him at the singing conventions. I always felt privileged to accompany him on piano at the singings. The beautiful words of the songs he wrote leaves us knowing he is now truly in the presence of the Lord. He will be missed, and I am so sorry I never knew he was also a minister and an educator. Our family all admired and knew he was a most well spoken gentleman and always the same when we were in the same singing event somewhere. A kind smile and short conversation, but enough to always know we had spent some time with a good friend of our family. He will certainly be missed at the singings, and his songs from the shape note convention books. We want to tell the family our sadness of his passing. May you be comforted at this difficult time.

Mr. Thrasher was a great friend and a true gentleman. I am glad I was able to know him. We shared a deep love for convention music especially in songwriting. Our condolences to all his family.

We met Mr. Thrasher at gospel singing conventions.  He was also a part of the Cumberland Valley School of Gospel Music for several years.  He wrote several gospel songs that were published in the convention books.  We loved Byron Thrasher.

Mr. Thrasher's message in song will be remembered as well as the harmony we sang by. He was an encourager to new writers and was a strong supporter of convention music circles across the country. I will miss his positive influence to our younger generation. Prayers for the family during this time.
