Carlene Bass Phillips

Carlene Bass Phillips, age 89, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023. Carlene was born Saturday, January 6, 1934 in Nashville, Tennessee, she is preceded in death by her parents, Dahlia Mai Smartt and Robert Frank Bass; husband of 43 years James Richard Phillips; two sisters and four brothers.

A graduate of West High School, a member of Grace Baptist Church, she worked 25 plus years as a secretary and receptionist for Dr. Charles Beck. She enjoyed board games and especially twenty-five cent Bingo. She enjoyed cooking and known for her chocolate meringue pie.

Survivors are her children, Carolyn Gayle (Keith) Sanders, Evelyn Joy (Melvin) Harris, Richard “Ric” Eugene (Teresa) Phillips; grandchildren, Michael Kornmeyer, Cathy Walls, Brenton Harris, Arin Harris, Richard Lawrence “Rick” Phillips, Bethanie Buchan, Elizabeth Johnston; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A visitation for Carlene will be Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.

A celebration of life will be conducted Friday, April 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. David Harbison officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
