His family will always remember David but the whole community lost a wonderful person as well

When our family moved from Madison to Goodlettsville in 1971 David was the first familiar face that I saw when starting at Godlettsville Jr High. We had been classmates at Stratton Elementary in Madison. Lucky for me he lived right down the street. I could talk for hours about our many adventures going from childhood to adulthood. Our families have been close for many years and David was one of the best friends I ever had. He was such a great person that I loved being around. Living life kept us apart in later years but he will forever be in my heart.

I have lost my best friend a brother to me my heart is broken i will always love him my brother from 1975 and forever more!! Phillip. 

I have thought very highly of David since we first met. Some boating fun and a lot of Auto business later,  I came to really like him. 
Honest,  True  and Always ready to help. I cherish his friendship and will miss him forever  

I meet David in classroom at ghs school 49 yrs ago I always consider him a friend . and a good man .I will miss you my dear friend .I will see you off Sunday ❤️RIP David Smith.

I have known David since he was a teenager and working on cars two doors from me and my family. He was always friendly with all of my family and cared for our automobiles as well as our friendships.

To say he was as good a person as anyone would want him to be is an understatement. He was the best person anyone could ask for.

This whole community has lost a person that always helped everyone he met and served their needs.

Our family will pray for all of his family during this sad time.

He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

I was a mailman for David Smith and his auto repair business for several years. The news of his death is sad to hear - he was always very kind to me. My condolences to his family.

David and I have been closer than friends since the 4 th grade almost all of my life I really don’t have the words to express what I am feeling 

David was the most kind mechanic I ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He was so thankful when the post office gave me a vehicle and he didn’t have to deal with me at least weekly if not daily. He always went that extra step to make sure the repairs were correct, and I know he did that for everyone he had any dealings with. He will sure be missed for  the kind and honest man he was. He loved his family too. My deepest condolences are with you all.

So very sorry, he was a great guy.

Granddaddy my best friend, A person like we don't see in this world today. Would show up early or stay late for the first person. You never met a Stanger and you would help anyone. 

  You was my best friend, how I started every day. We talked every morning sometimes 20 minutes and some times over an hour. You was the strongest man I've ever known. No matter what problems you faced or how much pain you had. You always held your head high and displayed a contagious smile. 

 The thing's that I'll miss the most are our long conversations in the morning, but most of all when you would grab me up to say goodbye. With a tight squeeze and a strong pat to the back you would tell me that you loved me, be careful, take care and enjoy them girls because one day you'll miss them. Until we meet again just know that I loved you so much, your Grandson Bo.

David  was as every one else said a very good and kind man always ready to help when you needed him .he would some times tell you  that he could not get to your car for a while   then a little while later. David would call to tell you that your car was ready.   John Holcomb@gmail.com

David Smith was the nicest man.  My son Brett Phelps always used David's service with any vehicle he owned.  David was fair with his customers and just a great all around person.  David you will be greatly missed.

Our Dad really liked David & trusted him with his cars when they needed fixing! Our Dad seemed to really enjoy talking to David when he picked up his car. 
  Our Dad said David was a very trustworthy person & talked about him often. Our Dad passed away in April 2021, & I, Rhonda McDonald, inherited my Dad’s Buick which needed to pass the emission test so we took it to David & he did everything he could to make it pass, even drove it home several times to work on it. Now that’s taking care of your customers!
He was a fine man , so sorry about his passing.  Praying for all the family!

We have lost a great friend and neighbor who will be greatly missed. He was a caring and giving business man for all of his clients, friends, and acquaintances. My prayers are with all of his family. 

I’m so sorry to hear of David’s passing. Over the years I have done business with David, but got to really converse and know him better the past couple of years. He was more than a great mechanic or businessman. I learned of many charitable acts that he has done and they were not for show or public knowledge. He did things to help people because he truly cared. Prayers for the family and friends. I believe he had many treasures waiting for him in Heaven, because of his investment in helping people.

I don’t know where to start.  You was a wonderful father Inlaw. And I loved you. I loved the conversations that we had that was between you and I. And they always will be. I so much wanted to get you out with Mandy and I canoeing, or taking you on a good rabbit hunt. But never got to do it. But I promise I will see you again and we are going to fulfill all the things we had on our bucket list. I know you are looking down smiling at us and in a better place. We miss you but we will see you again. And don’t worry. I promise I will take care of your daughter. She’s amazing. Thank you.

David what is a truly unique a special person strong in character a man of his word he loved the Lord. He would give you the shirt off his back with the blink of an eye he knew the man truly was a Christian a friend someone that will be greatly missed. He was never too busy just stop and talk share a story. And now he's sitting at the right hand of God. David we love you we miss you, will always be with us in our hearts rest in peace.

I was so sorry to learn about the loss of David.  He was such a kind man and was so good to help me and my husband out with our car troubles.  David had a warm personality, was honest in his work, and went the extra mile to help us.  He will be greatly missed. 

Mr. Smith was a great person. Help out anyone at anytime.  I remember  I used to joke with him when I seen him when I got to work. Being a neighbor to him was great. My prayers goes out to you Mr. Smith and your family.🙏

My sweet daddy.. I knew this day would one day come but I wasn't ready for it to be so soon. You had a heart of gold, a work ethic like no other and the most selfless person I have ever met. I know those traits were handed down to you from your sweet momma, and you handed them down to me. You were the rock and pillar to so many people. 
I sit and think about all the people you helped and all the wrenches you turned.. your name is wonderfully known for being honest and treating other how you wanted to be treated.
You know you were loved but I am not sure you realized just how much. I am honored God chose you to be my dad and I hope I continue to make you proud. You were the advice giver,  the ear that always listened and the best at calling me Mandy Lynn at the perfect time. I miss the morning calls more than you know, and I will miss every day I have left on this earth without you. You made me so proud. 
Watch over your family and your friends and prepare that special place for us, catch up with Granny and Uncle Ronnie and turn all the wrenches you want. You always said you couldn't wait to see granny again and dad know I can't wait till the day I see you again. As you always said love you always... but know I will miss you forever.. 

I have so many very fond memories of David from childhood on into adult. He was always the big brother I never had.  We went to church together all of our teenage years. He was always the one who listened when I needed a friend. David was always a great person and friend to have. He was apart of my family.  My dad thought David hung the moon. 
I was there when his first child Mandy Lynn was born.  I remember how very proud he was.  The big smile on his face. How he adored her.  
As we got older our lives went different directions but each time we talked or saw each other it was as if nothing changed. His smile and the big ole bear hugs. He was so very special to me and my family. We will miss him greatly.  Until we meet again you are in my heart and memories. 

David was not only a good friend and a really good man, but he had compassion for those in need. My wife and I stopped to help some folks from Guatemala that were stuck on the highway. We limped their car to our house (David & Debbie live next door) and David fix their car in our driveway, and typical of David, at no charge. He was a blessing to all he met and will be sorely missed. We love you David!

I have known David thru my husband Ken for over 30 yr.  He was one of the nicest, kindest people I have ever met.  Always willing to help someone.  Thank you David for being you.
