Gary Alan Morris - After 64 years, Gary Alan Morris was received home, gently wrapped in the arms of God, on Sunday December 15, 2019. He was a resident of Springfield, Tennessee at the time of passing. Gary was born to David and Mildred Morris in Duluth, Minnesota on June 19, 1955 where he lived until graduating from Duluth East High School in 1973. Shortly after graduation, Gary purchased his first motorcycle and like many bike riders, it soon became part of his DNA, and he was never the same man after. He went on about his life spending years as a farmer, an over the road truck driver and always, an avid motorcyclist. Gary was a kind soul, a genuine and honest man, who made time for everyone he met, especially if they rode motorcycles. Gary was blessed when he was able to reconnect with an old high school friend, Cheryl Hintsa, at their 40th high school reunion. Soon, she joined him in Tennessee and it wasn't long till he took her as his bride. Gary excitedly introduced Cheryl to her first long "ride", as they honeymooned in the beautiful mountains of Eastern Tennessee. Together, they went on to turn their passion for motorcycle riding into a way to also serve the Lord. Gary was a faithful member of his "motorcycle" church and the Christian Motorcycle Ministry (MM).
Gary is survived by his "beautiful Bride", Cheryl, brother Jim (Lorraine) Morris, sister Pam Boman, son Joey Morris, his Tennessee "parents" John and Eloise Hurt and his two beloved dogs, Desi and Maggie. Gary's best friends in life were his Christian Motorcycle Ministry biker brother and sister, Greg and Wendy Adkins. Gary always joked Greg could have anything of his, except his wife! Gary also held a special place in his heart for his hero Vietnam Veteran motorcycle brothers (and their wives), JC and Mer Carter, and Dan and Mary Taylor, who are also a part of the Christian Motorcycle Ministry. Other survivors are his two nieces and two nephews, several cousins, and many other close biker family members, whom, combined, are too numerous to be named, but not to be loved.
Gary's Going Home Celebration will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Covenant Confirmers Ministry, 300 10th Ave East, Springfield, TN 37172 at 2:00pm with Pastor Ron Baptiste officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gary’s name may be made to Cheryl Morris to assist her with final expenses.
Matthew 5:16 KJV
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.
Another Biker Who Has Gone Down
I’m sorry, friends and family that I can’t be with you here today.
If you’re all gathered here and reading this, it means I've passed away.
But if I were there, I'd tell you not to shed a tear or frown.
I'd tell you just to simply say, Another Biker has gone down.
If I were there I'd tell you I have no more pain or strife,
That I loved my friends and family, and especially loved my wife.
If I were there, I'd tell you how I loved to ride, wherever the open road bode,
Including the highways and the byways, and the curving mountain roads.
I loved to put it in the wind, I loved when that engine rumbled,
and all the biker friends who rode with me, who would help me when I stumbled.
You are amongst my dearest friends, brothers and sisters of the road,
We've traveled many miles together; shared many heavy loads.
I believed in God and country, I knew of sacrifice,
I honored those who have given, without regard of price.
If I could be there with you, we'd laugh and share memories from our past,
And this gathering would be just one more tale, another story, and would not be our last.
But today I can't be with you, except in your heart and memory stores.
So you'll have to laugh, remember the past, and then let you engines roar!
Please smile and do not shed a tear, and wipe away that silly frown,
I'm off upon that final ride, and am riding with Jesus now.
