He is survived by his wife, Stacey Irons Jernigan; son, Charles G Hall (Rena); grandchildren, Nevaeh and Trace; sister, Joan Jernigan Burton; brothers, James (Jim) Daniel Jernigan and Jeffery (Jeff) Davis Jernigan (Teresa); sisters and brothers in-law, Kelly Green (Rusty), Brandi Valencia (Daniel), Tim Townsend (Martha), Johnathan Irons and Jimmy Irons; 20 nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Horace Gene Jernigan Sr; mother, J. Bennett Jernigan; sons, John Raymond Jernigan and Clifford A. Strait; sister, Sue Jernigan.
Jay was a native of Springfield TN, and a graduate of East Robertson High School class of 1970. Jay was a life long musician, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Jay has a large extended family musicians world wide. He was loved dearly by everyone who knew him. There will be multiple celebrations of Jay's life and legacy planned for a later date.
A graveside service for Jay will be held Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
