Lawrence Thomas Dickens passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 after a long battle with leukemia. Lawrence was born on Thursday, March 17, 1927 in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to Oscar and Marie Smiley Dickens.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Stenberg Dickens and three generations of nieces and nephews.
Lawrence was a WWII veteran and retired from Metropolitan Nashville Police Department as a Major after a 33 year long career.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Thursday January 30, 2014 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Bro. James Matthews and George Warren officiating. Burial with Miliatary Honors will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be O’Neal Dickens, George Warren, Paul Delaney, Frank Stenberg, , Timothy Preston, Dennis Bobel, and Terry Coats. Honorary are his nephews and Sam Binkley and Terry Clendenin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice, the Leukemia Society or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Family and friends will gather to remember Lawrence at a visitation Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 5:00 until 8:00 and Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 11:00 until 12:00 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home 1150 South Dickerson Rd. Goodlettsville, TN 37072
