Lincoln's early years were spent in Parker, where he attended Parker Grade School through the eighth grade before graduating from Coalgate High School in Coalgate, Oklahoma. His thirst for knowledge and commitment to excellence continued throughout his life as he completed numerous U.S. Air Force training courses with honors.
In 1946, Lincoln's adventurous spirit led him to join the United States Navy. He proudly served aboard the U.S. Midway as an Aviation Boatswain’s Mate during a Goodwill Tour of the Mediterranean region. His service allowed him to see the world and contribute to his country during a pivotal time in history. After completing his tour in 1948, Lincoln was honorably discharged as a World War II veteran.
Following his military service, Lincoln embarked on a distinguished career at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Over more than three decades of dedicated work in both blue-collar and white-collar roles, he rose to the position of GM-13 Supervisor before retiring in June 1983. His career was marked by hard work and leadership that left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him.
Lincoln married Freda Mae (Lee) Hays, and together they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage filled with love and partnership. Their life together was enriched by their shared passion for travel and genealogy research. After retirement, they embraced the freedom of the open road by purchasing an RV and traveling full-time across the United States. They visited friends and family while delving deeply into their family history- a pursuit that brought them great joy.
In 2006, Lincoln and Freda relocated to Nashville to be closer to their family following the birth of their grandson Ethan Currey. Family was always at the heart of Lincoln’s life. He is survived by his beloved wife Freda; daughters Teresa Currey (spouse Robert) and their son Ethan; Wanda Hays (spouse Paul Wosika); Vicki Jennings and her sons C.J. Jennings and William Jennings; Cheryl Hays and her daughter Michele Simmons.
