

The visitation will be held on Sunday, May 29 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. The funeral will be held at 4:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, Tennessee with Bro. Kevin Medlin officiating.
Mr. Lanier was born on Friday, August 4, 1933 in Lyons, Georgia. He served in the United States Air Force as a Paratrooper. He also served as a Small Arms Repairman. He joined the service on January 22, 1952 in Charlotte, North Carolina. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge and Good Conduct Medal. After serving in the military he worked for many years as a truck driver.
He and his wife, Joyce Lanier, were married for 38 years after their daughters, Sharon and Sebrina, set them up on a blind date. Sebrina wanted a dad and Sharon wanted a mom and they devised a plan. Larry and Joyce fell in love and spent many wonderful years together. They lived in Lebanon, Tennessee.
They enjoyed gardening, drinking coffee together in the morning and watching Charles Stanley. He loved the Price is Right and it was his birthday theme for his 88th birthday where he was surrounded by many family members and friends.
He was a strong and resilient man, and had overcome cancer earlier in life. He also had a humorous side and occasionally turned his hearing aids off when he didn’t feel like listening to someone. He loved the Atlanta Braves and was able to finally see them win the World Series. He enjoyed spending time with family and spent many of his final days with some of his family at the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Larry is predeceased by his brothers J.W. Lanier, Wayne Lanier and Bryant Lanier, and son Kenny Ray Meadows.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joyce, his sister Carolyn Bragg, his children Sebrina Ann Cooke and husband Harrison Cooke, Sharon Lanier Laviola and husband Steve Laviola, Angie Wynet Lanier Arcement and Karen R. Holland, grandchildren Tyler Kuban and his wife Carlie Kuban, Zachary Kuban, Michelle Jenkins Patterson and her husband Travis Patterson, Brittany Carter and husband Clint Carter, Marc Arcement and wife Jacqueline Arcement, J.J. Brothers, Blake Holland, Tara Tedder and husband Brent Tedder and three sons, and great-grandchildren Austin Patterson, Taryn Patterson, Hope Kuban, Della Kuban and Briar Carter.
He will be dearly missed by all of his loved ones.
