

Matthew Wayne "Beezy" Bess age 32 passed from this life to be with Jesus on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in Boulder Colorado. Matt was born Sunday, August 31, 1980 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is preceded in death by grandparents, Troy and Doy Akers.
He is survived by parents Rev. Wayne Bess and Teresa Bess, sisters Melody Cothern and Melissa Terrell. His grandparents Melvin and Ruth Bess, nephews Nathan Bess, Jackson Cothern and Noah Terrell, Girl Friend Lauren Brannon, many other relatives and a host of special friends.
Matt grew up in Dickson County, Tn. where he played baseball, basketball and attended Oakmont and Dickson Elementary. He came to faith in Christ while in Dickson and was baptized by His father. He moved to Tupelo, Mississippi at 12 years old. Where He played on travel baseball teams and AAU basketball teams. He played basketball for the Tupelo Golden Wave from 1996-1999 with a team record of 93 wins and 7 loses. He graduated from Tupelo High School in 1999. He then attended Welch College in Nashville, Tn.where he played collegiate basketball for the Flames for 4 years. He is 2nd all time in 3 point Field Goals- hitting 245 shots and 6th all time in scoring with over 1300 points. He was an All -Regional selection and played in over 120 games. He graduated in 2004 with a BS degree in Exercise Science. He worked in Metro Nashville Public Schools from 2005 till present. He worked in building improvements in Durango, Colorado for a short time. Matt loved life and was a people person. Matt was an excellent story teller. He could light up a room with his smile and his laugh was contagious. Matt loved music and had a strong passion for the music of Phish and Wide Spread Panic. He traveled all over the country to hear them. He also sang vocals with "Corleone" which meant the world to him. Matt made a strong impact on everyone he met. He will be sadly missed, never forgotten, and always live on in our hearts. He was a Wonderful Son, Loving Brother, and Faithful Friend!

Celebration of Life Service to be held Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Goodlettsville - First Baptist Church 613 South Main St. Goodlettsville, TN with visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. with internment to follow at Forrest Lawn Memorial Garden.
