Stanley David Oster, age 82 departed this life to enter his heavenly home, September 28, 2016. Stan was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Anton Oster & Martha (Pfieffer) Oster. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean (Saunders) Oster, brother Warren, children Debbie (Larry) Hitt, David (Linda) Oster, Tracy (Wallace) Franklin, and Kelly (Eddie) Donovan. He is also survived, by grandchildren Bart, Thad and Lance Hitt; Jennifer Oster, Rachel (Jason) Rittenberry, Dustin Cornelison; Matthew (Brittany) Franklin, Kayla, Austin and Hannah Franklin; Eli and Anna Donovan; and great-grandchildren Austin James, Briley Hitt, Dylan Hitt and Morgan Rittenberry.
Stan was employed in the furniture industry first by Jamison Bedding and later by Southerland, Inc., as a Manufacturer's Rep, for 35+ years. He successfully represented his product, with annual sales of 1 million, while traveling Tennessee and Kentucky. Upon retirement, he began a new era of life, as a school bus driver for Sumner County Schools, for about 18 years. He enjoyed being friends with the many children who rode his bus and affectionately called him "Mr. Stan"
Stan was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church. For many years prior
he was a member of Two Rivers Baptist Church where he was active in the choir, and coaching men's and ladies' softball teams. He played his accordian, while leading in worship at KOA Opryland church services for 20 years. He also later provided music for Senior Adult lunches and other functions.
Besides a love of gospel music, he loved baseball, hockey, and football. He worked with his grandsons perfecting their pitches and batting; and enjoyed attending all the grandchildren's sporting events, including baseball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball.
Stan (Daddy, Gramps) was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his earthly family.
