

Terry was born on Tuesday, December 5, 1944 to Ed and Gertrude Smith in Cordell Oklahoma joining his two elder sisters Joy and Jan on the farm. Two years later the family moved to Denton TX where shortly thereafter he welcomed a beloved younger brother, Tim.
After graduating high school in Denton, Terry attended college at North Texas State University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. In 1972 he moved to Nashville Tennessee to pursue a songwriting career and teach middle school English. As an English teacher, he held a love for words and language which was evident in his extensive songwriting skills and published works. He enjoyed traveling for shows where he would perform his music, meet new people, and make many special friends along the way. As a lifetime baseball fan, Terry enjoyed playing ball in his younger years, coaching teams, watching the game, and collecting memorabilia.
He is preceded in death by his mother Gertrude (Morris) Smith, his father Ed Smith, his sister Joy (Smith) Walker, his sister Dr. Jan Smith DMV, his brother Tim Smith, and his nephew Stephen Walker.
Survived by his niece Lisa Hester, nephew David Walker, nephew Eric Walker, and cherished friends of which there are many.
Family and friends will gather to remember Terry at a visitation on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 515 Long Hollow Pike, Goodlettsville, Tennessee 37072.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 24, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church 515 Long Hollow Pike, Goodlettsville, Tennessee 37072 with Bro. Ronald Lawrence officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Devotion at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
