Vondell Rhea Powell

Vondell Rhea Powell, age 89, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, April 29, 2022. Vondell was born on Saturday, May 14, 1932, in White House, Tennessee and is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Taylor Powell; parents, Avie Myrtle Pinson Covington and John Rogan Covington, Sr.; siblings, John Rogan Covington, Jr. and Dorothy Jean Garrett.

Vondell was a member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church and graduated from Hume-Fogg High School. She was gentle, kind, loyal, compassionate, selfless, giving and loved unconditionally. She loved life and had a smile that would light up the room. She was an excellent mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved with all her heart. She enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing, reading to her grandchildren, petting her grand-dogs and attending church. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church. She worked daily with her husband in his printing company located on their property but was always a stay-at-home mother until she started working for Ambrose Printing Company in 1980 and retired in 1997. She loved her job and all the people she worked with. She was greatly loved by her co-workers and the owner of Ambrose Printing Company.

Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughters, Debbie Baird, Kathy (Curt) Armstrong, Robbie (Corey) Fortner; grandchildren, Joel Armstrong, Jeremy Armstrong, Robin Armstrong, Jessica Armstrong, Cordy Fortner, Piper Fortner and 7 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Mrs. Powell will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 South Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072, followed by a graveside service at 3:00 PM with Bro. Johnny Carver officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Corey Fortner, Curt Armstrong, Joel Armstrong, Jeremy Armstrong, Mark Covington, and Mike Watts.
