He served in the U.S. Marines during WW II and received the Purple Heart Award Tawara, Saipan, Tinian. Mr. Steele served as the Commander of the VFW Mansker Post 6993 and was a member of the Goodlettsville Masonic Lodge #271. He served two terms as President of the Second Marine Division Association, Camp Lejune. A retiree of Otis Elevator Company 43 years
.Preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ida Mae Bean Steele.
He is survived by his son, William F. Steele Jr.; daughters, Nancy Jo Gregory (Don) and Debra Kay Agbunag (Archie); 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 am Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Massey officiating. A Military Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday from 5 pm until 8 pm with a Masonic service at 7 pm, Monday from 4 pm until 8 pm and 1 hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home
