We are deeply saddened to share the passing of Betty Souers on September 2, 2024. At 86, Betty went home to be with her daughter Kelly York, who passed away in October 2014. Betty was born on September 29, 1937, in Witt, Illinois, to the late Rolland Pocock and Ethel Rufus. She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Judson Souers; her oldest daughter, Carla Double; and her stepsons Steve Souers, Mark Souers, and Jud Souers. She is cherished by her three grandchildren, Travis York, Christon Pangle, and Caitlin Pryor, as well as eight step¬ grandchildren, Seth Double, Rachel Souers, Daniel Souers, Rebecca Oliver, Elizabeth Dehaan, Jacob Souers, Samual Souers, Sarah Unfried, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Betty was raised in Wood River, Illinois and graduated from Wood River High School before embarking on her first career as a receptionist. On December 25, 1968, she married Judson Souers, the love of her life. Betty found great fulfillment and enjoyed her 39-year career as a very successful Realtor, working for Realty Executives. Over the years, she helped many families sell their home or find their new dream home. After retiring, she dedicated her time to her family, particularly her grandchildren, and was an active member of The Church at Litchfield Park until she was unable to attend due to her declining health.
Betty was known for her outgoing personality and warmth. She was a talented cook, enjoyed creating gourmet meals, and enjoyed sharing her culinary skills with those around her. Her love of Christmas was well known, as was her passion for decorating and shopping, particularly at Nordstrom's. Betty and Judson traveled extensively, exploring destinations like Jerusalem, China, Europe, France, and Vienna, which enriched her life and broadened her horizons.
A woman of grace and style, Betty was a true lady whose sense of humor and friendly demeanor made her a joy to be around. Once she made a friend, they remained her friend forever. She had a special bond with her grandchildren, often enjoying shopping, cooking their favorite foods for them, and spending time with them.
Betty's spirit and kindness touched the lives of many. She will be remembered for her loyalty, her love of life, and her beautiful presence. Though she is no longer with us, her memory will forever live in our hearts. Her family and friends will miss her dearly, but they take comfort in the many cherished memories she has left behind.
A celebration of life for Betty will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at The Church at Litchfield Park, 300 N Old Litchfield Road, Litchfield Park, AZ.
