Born on October 2, 1947, in Frenchtown, New Jersey, Catherine was the daughter of James and Catherine Corcoran. She was raised in Frenchtown and Milford, New Jersey, and graduated from Delaware Valley Regional High School before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villa Maria College in Erie, Pennsylvania. Nursing was more than a profession to Catherine—it was a lifelong expression of her compassion and care for others.
For over 40 years, she served as a nurse in both private and state psychiatric hospitals, offering dignity, patience, and kindness to those in her care. She carried that same generosity into every part of her life.
On May 23, 1981, she married her beloved husband, John Albert Samich Jr. Together they built a life grounded in love, faith, and family. After retiring in 2009, they moved to Buckeye, Arizona in 2012.
In her retirement, Catherine remained deeply devoted to her faith as an active member of Summit Community Church. She gave her time to others through community outreach, including Meals of Joy, always finding quiet ways to serve. She enjoyed time with friends through bunco, book club, and Friday night dinners, but her greatest joy was found in moments spent with her family—especially during holidays and time with her grandson.
Catherine is survived by her loving husband, John Albert Samich Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Don Ivankovich; her son and daughter-in-law, John and Saida Samich; and her cherished grandson, John Samich IV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James P. and Catherine A. Corcoran, and her brothers, William and James Corcoran.
Catherine lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and quiet faith. As it is written, “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” (Matthew 25:23)
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
