Chad grew up in Hillsboro, Oregon, and later lived in California, the Seattle area, and Arizona. Oregon always held his heart, and it was where he hoped to return and retire one day. He cherished memories of trips to Hawaii, Oceanside, Seaside and Cannon Beach, time spent in the mountains, and visiting his grandparents in Bend, Oregon.
Following in his Grandpa Fixmer’s footsteps, Chad built a proud professional driving career that spanned 38 years. He drove heavy haul, gasoline tankers, LTL freight, and doubles and triples, mastering even the most challenging routes. He loved the open road, training new drivers, and was known as a “Human GPS.” Grandpa Roper affectionately nicknamed him “the Forklift” because of his incredible physical strength.
Chad was a devoted fan of the L.A. Dodgers and was thrilled to witness their back-to-back World Series wins. He loved classic rock, classic Suburbans, woodworking, and had a silly sense of humor that brought laughter to those around him. Above all, he loved Jehovah first, followed closely by his family and friends, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Chad met the love of his life, his “wifey” Angie, in January 2005. They were married on November 23, 2006. They met in the Seattle area and spent many years living between Phoenix and Washington State to be close to family.
He is survived by his father, Kenneth Charles Roper; his brother, Ryan Levi Roper; his niece Courtney Cavazos and her children Lilia, Julia, and Greyson; his nephew Kenny Cavazos and his wife Kaitlyn, and their children Christian and Amelia; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Linea Kay Roper (December 2024); his sister, Kelly Roper; and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A visitation will be held on January 9, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
