After graduating from Andress High School in El Paso in 1973, Chuck joined the United States Air Force that same year. He rose to the rank of Master Sergeant before retiring in April of 1997, earning multiple commendations while in the service of his country. After working for Boeing, Chuck decided to start his own construction company. He successfully grew the business for several years, building a community of fast friends along the way. In October of 2013, he retired permanently, relocating to Arizona in search of sunnier skies.
In the summer of 1980 while stationed in England, Chuck met his wife Lynda at a rock festival. He won her over by offering a bottle of cheap wine, which he considered classier than beer. They were married in April of 1981 and moved to Alaska that winter. The experience of driving from Texas up to Alaska in winter was one they would never forget. Chuck and Lynda welcomed daughter Chelsea in November of 1987 and moved to Germany in 1989. There, daughter Caitlin arrived in November of 1990. In January of 1992 the family moved to Washington state, eventually settling on Camano Island where the girls spent most of their childhood years. In October of 2023, Chuck was delighted to meet his baby granddaughter Harper, who was born in August. That baby was the apple of his eye and brought him much joy through visits and videos.
Chuck’s passions included his family, his country, riding motorcycles, and mechanical pursuits such as working on cars and reloading ammo. He crossed the United States on his motorcycle several times, including memorable trips to Washington DC for the Rolling Thunder Memorial Tribute. He also accompanied the Vietnam Traveling Wall and stood in service as a Patriot Guard Rider.
In addition to his wife, daughters and granddaughter, Chuck is survived by his three sisters, Linda, Judy, and Dawn, and their families.
Thanks go to Chuck’s team at Abrazo West for their dedicated and compassionate care in his last days, and to all those who have supported him and his family throughout this difficult journey.
