Donna was a resident of Buckeye, Arizona and was known for her adventurous spirit and positive outlook on life.
She was born on August 7, 1957 in Florida. She graduated high school in Germany, as her father was making his career in the Air Force. Even when she was back stateside, when asked where she was from, Donna would reply, "The United States".
She spent twenty years in the business world, and then majored in Education at Texas A&M.
Donna met her husband John 29 years ago in Washington, a meeting that blossomed into a loving partnership. Her dedication to her family was matched by her commitment to her community. She was a previous member of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary, where she contributed her time and energy to supporting others. She was also active in the Philanthropic Educational Organization, an international sisterhood dedicated to motivating, educating and celebrating women.
Her adventurous nature was evident in her love for travel and river cruises, as well as her competitiveness when playing trivia.
Throughout her life, Donna was proud of her career as a Special Education teacher, a role in which she touched many lives with her kindness and understanding. Her devout Christian faith was a guiding force in her life, and she was known for being full of light and truly enjoyed helping others. When she wasn't sewing or crocheting, she might be found helping a friend assemble furniture. Did you know? She even installed all the ceiling fans in their house!
Now, she wasn't really a fan of the kitchen. She only cooked when got hungry. But maybe she was busy watching her house flipping shows, or helping the Sundance community with theater presentations.
Her community involvement with the Hula Club, the Bocce Ball Club and the Social Committee made her and John the obvious choice last year as they were nominated and selected for Volunteer(s) of the Year. She was the HOA Chair of the Governing Documents Community.
She was preceded in death by her mother, and her two grandchildren Mikey and Raegan.
She is survived by her father Lewis Curtis, her husband John Busby, 6 children Sheri Busby Ordonez, Michael Busby, Kenneth Nelson, Lindsay Nelson, Abigail Gorman and Gwendolyn Dailey and 16 grandchildren. Also left to mourn are her brother Greg Curtis and her sister Susan Curtis.
Donna Lyn Busby leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and joy. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Please join her family in a Celebration of Life to be held Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2 PM at CCV (Christ Church of the Valley) Verado Campus.
