Gregory Lee Boyer was born to Jeanette Louise Arvizu and Ronald “Ron” Lee Boyer on February 3, 1964, at 10:22 p.m. at Inter-Community Hospital in Covina, California. He lived with his mother Jeanette, sisters Kelli and Michelle, and his other father Richard “Dick” Harms in Glendora, California until the age of 14, when he moved to Iowa to live with his father Ron and other mother Melody. A year later, he returned to Glendora. Greg grew up loving sports, playing baseball and football throughout junior high. In high school, he learned auto mechanics and began working on cars, fixing up his family’s Ford Maverick. Greg graduated from Glendora High School in 1982.
In his twenties, Greg lived throughout Southern California and also spent time in Littleton, Colorado with his father and other mother, where he attended community college. He later returned to Southern California and attended San Diego State University, taking courses in business and finance. After completing several courses at SDSU, Greg began his career in construction, working in Covina, California at West Coast Custom Rooms, where he specialized in home remodeling sales.
In 1993, at the age of 29, Greg met his wife, Claudia Vargas. Two years later, on June 18, 1995, they were married in Friendly Hills, California. They celebrated with 150 guests who danced all night in honor of their love. The couple then traveled to Maui, Hawaii, where they took a helicopter ride over the Haleakalā volcano, enjoyed romantic luaus, and snorkeled with giant turtles and fish of all colors. In 2000, after five years of marriage, their daughter, Victoria Louise, was born.
From 2000 to 2004, Greg owned his own construction company, All American Custom Remodeling. In March 2008, he and his family moved from Orange, California to Buckeye, Arizona, where Greg continued working in the construction industry, specializing in outdoor construction design and sales.
After moving to Arizona, Greg and his family became devoted members of Summit Community Church, where Greg volunteered before Sunday services. He and his family attended the church’s annual Mexico Mission Trip for five years, traveling to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico to build homes for families in need. Greg also enjoyed attending weekly couples’ Bible study groups, where he shared many laughs and developed lifelong friendships.
Throughout his life, Greg loved traveling with his family. In 2015, they ventured beyond North America for the first time, exploring Europe together. They visited Paris, the South of France, Rome, and Venice. In 2017, the family traveled to Tulum, Mexico, where they explored ancient Mayan ruins at Chichén Itzá and floated through the underground rivers of Xcaret. While his family loved to jet off to faraway destinations, Greg was happiest hiking his way through nature. He often enjoyed early morning hikes before the Arizona heat set in and planned many road trips where he and his family explored Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, the Grand Canyon, Zion National Park, the Petrified Forest, and more. During a family trip to Hawaii in 2018, they explored Haleakalā National Park, where Greg drove the family up the Road to Hana, hiking together to Waimoku Falls. After Victoria moved to Seattle, Washington in 2022, Greg and Claudia traveled to visit her, exploring the Pacific Northwest together, visiting Olympic National Park.
Greg made his journey back to heaven on August 20, 2025. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, hunting with his German Shorthaired Pointers, barbecuing, attending Diamondbacks games, and eating as much spicy food as his stomach could handle. Greg is survived by his wife, Claudia Boyer; his daughter, Victoria Boyer; his other mother, Melody Boyer; his sisters Kelly Boyer, and Michelle Davenport (and Jay); his other sisters Janice Stanick (and Ron), and Shelly Boyer; his other brothers, Steven Harms (and Cheri), and Thomas Harms; his nephews Scott Stanick (and Joni), Maxwell Boyer-Tolley, Jack Davenport (and Jill), and Samuel Boyer-Tolley; his nieces, Nicole Owen (and Chadd), and Jahanna Davenport LeMaire (and Devon); and his four-legged companion, Rocket. He will be laid to rest in Glendora, California, with his mother, Jeanette.
Services were held at Summit Community Church in Buckeye, AZ.
