

On April 26, 2025, with her husband by her side, Karen Lee Moffitt of Goodyear, AZ, left mortality and continued her eternal journey. Karen was born on September 16, 1950, in Inglewood, CA. Her family moved to Anaheim, CA when she was 9 years old. In 1968 she graduated from Magnolia High School.
On June 13, 1970, Karen married Max Lee Moffitt, Jr., her high school sweetheart, in Los Angeles, CA. In June of 1974, Max and Karen moved to China Lake, CA. The following year they moved to the adjacent town of Ridgecrest, where they lived until they moved to Goodyear, AZ in June of 2020.
Karen and Max found great joy in their marriage of 54 years. Karen devoted her life to raising their seven children. She served in various volunteer positions in church, schools, little league, and cub scouts. In her church responsibilities, she worked with youth as a leader and teacher, led the women’s service organization for several years, and was prolific in teaching and doing family history. Karen’s selfless devotion to her family and community left a profound and lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Always ready to help, she gave generously of her time and love. Karen loved being a grandma and making each of her grandchildren feel special.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband Max; siblings Diana Barrington (DeLyle), Eric Poetschlag (Corine), Brian Poetschlag (Patti); children Michael Moffitt (Cindy), Lisa Hardy (Darren), Jonathan Moffitt (Jamie), Matthew Moffitt (Ami), Kevin Moffitt (Kristen), Jeffrey Moffitt (Amber), and Amy McFarlane (Tim); and 32 wonderful grandchildren.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Harry Ernst Poetschlag, and her mother, Kathleen Mary Saunders Poetschlag.
Services for Karen will be held in Goodyear, AZ on May 10th and she will be laid to rest in Millcreek, UT at Elysian Burial Gardens on May 31st.
