September 15, 1944 – April 21, 2025
With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Vermetta Marie Faulkinbury, who left this world peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Goodyear, Arizona. She was surrounded by her loving family in her final moments.
Vermetta was born in Marceline, Missouri, on September 15, 1944, to Joseph and Margaret Standley. As a young child, she traveled with her parents and brothers to Arizona, where she grew up in Tolleson. She often recalled the wonder of seeing mountains for the first time and being amazed by their beauty. Vermetta went to school with her dear friend Carolyn, who introduced her to her brother, Truman Faulkinbury, the man who would become her beloved husband of over 60 years. Together, they built a life and raised three beautiful daughters: Metta, Evelyn, and Carolyn.
She was taught to drive by her loving mother and began working at Beam Corp, affectionately known as “The Factory,” in Buckeye, Arizona, where she worked for over 20 years as a quality control worker. She was also lovingly known to many as everyone’s favorite “Avon Lady” and made a lasting impression in her community with her kindness, friendliness, and warmth.
Vermetta was always excited when family and friends visited her in Rainbow Valley, Arizona. Her home was frequently filled with the laughter of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who loved coming to see all her cats, dogs, peacocks, and chickens. They will forever treasure the fun sleepovers they had at her house growing up.
Vermetta is survived by her devoted daughters, Metta Martin, Evelyn Nelson, and Carolyn Smith, along with 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, who carry her spirit forward with love, pride, and gratitude. She is also lovingly survived by her brother, Daryl Standley.
She now joins in eternal peace with her husband, Truman Faulkinbury (2021); her cherished grandsons Rickey Nelson (2020), Marty Soliz (1994), and Zachary Soliz (1990); her brothers Dale and Joseph Standley; and her beloved parents, Joseph and Margaret Standley, along with many other treasured loved ones she held in her heart and missed dearly throughout her life.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing Vermetta is reunited with so many she loved. Her legacy is one of compassion, devotion, and an endless capacity to love. To those who knew her well, Vermetta was delightfully feisty and never short on humor. Her playful spark and quick wit brought light to every room. Her gentle spirit was paired with an unmatched charm and a spark that made her all the more lovable, never without a clever remark or a warm laugh. She will forever be remembered whenever we hear an Elvis Presley song, as we picture her joyfully shaking her feet and singing along.
Though we ache in her absence, we find comfort in the memories she gave us and in the love she planted so deeply in our lives. She will be dearly missed and our endless memories of her cherished forever.
A visitation for Vermetta will be held Friday, May 2, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 South Litchfield Road, Goodyear, Arizona 85338. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 926 South Litchfield Road, Goodyear, Arizona 85338.
