Albert Hylton Hammond, 78, joined our Heavenly Father peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 2021 @ 3:30 am.
He leaves behind his loving Doreen, his wife of forty-two (42) years. She was devoted and cared for her husband effortlessly – with her love. Four sons, Garfield, Kirk, Andre (Novelette) and Francis Hayden (Lisa) and daughter’s; Paulette Wright (Noel), Jasmine Peek (Paul), and Jacqueline. Nine grandchildren; Breyana, Wyatt, Evelyn (Alvin), Dorothy, Doreen, Anthony Sr. (Tedra), Angeline, Ivory, Yasmeen and Wayne, six great-grandchildren; Aniyah, Anthony (AJ) Zoey, Johnny, Jasmine and Nova to include a host of (15) nieces and (10) nephews; great nieces and great nephews; great-great grand nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Albert was born in Kingston, Jamaica where he was raised by is his mom Kathleen and stepfather Nathaniel, one brother (Donald), and three sisters (Etta, Phyllis and Peaches). Three of which have predeceased him leaving only Peaches.
Albert came to the United States of America in 1970, then living in Connecticut. After meeting and later marrying Doreen, they lived together in Teaneck NJ. They enjoyed their time there and travelled often, meeting new friends. Later, He and Doreen decided to relocate to Orlando, Florida in 1987, after their children were grown BUT mostly due to the couple’s dislike of cold New Jersey winters!
Albert loved football and baseball and was thrilled when his sons shared his passion. He never missed a New York Yankee and New York Knicks game on TV. Right now, he is probably saying, “Go Knicks” and ‘Go Giants’!
We’re reminded of the scripture which says, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;” Ecclesiastes 3: 1-2
In our love for him we celebrate his life, his legacy, his hope, his joy, his peace and it is in this we release him into our Father’s arms. Rest in His sweet peace forever!
A funeral service for Al will be held Monday, October 4, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734, followed by a committal service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
