

Born May 24, 1918, Alice Gotlieb Simensky grew up in New York, the second of four children born to Esther and Benjamin Gotlieb. Following her graduation from Erasmus Hall High School, she married Philip Franklin Simensky and together they began a wonderful life. After completion of his service in World War II, they moved to Orlando where he practiced medicine and she managed his office. In addition to raising her family of three girls, she was active in the community in her children’s schools, as a volunteer Pink Lady at Orange Memorial Hospital, in Temple Israel’s Sisterhood and as a docent at the Orlando Museum of Art. She had a great sense of adventure and thus traveled the world. In addition, she loved to visit her grandchildren. She showed kindness to all she met leaving a legacy of love to her family, friends and community.
Predeceased by her husband, Philip, and her brother Nelson and sister Helen Feller, she is survived by her daughter Francine and husband Neil Newberg, daughter Janet Selig and Jeff Bernstein, and daughter Jacalyn and her husband Rafael Reisz. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Eric and Tenise Newberg, Dan and Laura Newberg, Todd and Katie Newberg, Mindy and David Shoulberg, Scott Selig, Blake and Stephanie Selig, Mara and Justin Berman, Bret Bernstein, Matt and Lacy Hamada, Nikelle and Richard Klareich, Joshua Reisz and Maya Reisz. Her 21 great grandchildren are Jake and Alex Newberg; Kylie and Emerson Newberg; Francine Carolyn Newberg; Carly, Jordan and Casey Shoulberg; Cooper and Sam Selig; Mackenzie, Ansley and Parker Selig; Ella, Avery and Davis Berman; Max and Parker Bernstein; Taylor and Madison Hamada; and Abby Klareich. Her brother Arthur and wife Sandra and brother-in-law Leonard Feller also survive.
Alice’s life will be celebrated by her family at a private service.
