Andrew began to serve his country in the US Army at the age of 18.He served 22 years, and was in the Vietnam war as a helicopter gunman, and also spent 3 tours abroad. During his time abroad, he married Mi Hyon Phipps, and was the most amazing father to his three children, Kenneth, Lisa and Jennifer.
After serving 22 years and honorably discharged, Andrew began serving his church as a deacon and elder.
On September 7, 2005, Andrew was ordained as a minister and served his flock faithfully until his retirement in January 2022.
Up until his last breath on October 5, 2022 he never lost his thankfulness, and truly exemplified the life of a believer in Christ.
Andrew "Barnabas" John Phipps was truly a man of faith who was the most selfless person I know. All those around him were touched by his kindness, contagious with his laughter, brightened by his smile and hopeful with his encouragement.
We are forever grateful for his warmth, steadfastness and courage. The world has lost a very precious person, but heaven has gained another faithful saint !
