Angella Allexcia Phipps

Angella Allexcia Phipps, 64, of Windermere, Florida passed away on June 12, 2024. She was born in Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies on February 26, 1960 to the parents of Ivan and the late Mavis Ellis. When Angella was 13 years old, she and her family immigrated to Brooklyn, New York as Mavis Ellis gainfully found employment in the United States.

Angella graduated from Wingate High School and continued her education at Buffalo State University, where she achieved her Bachelor's Degree. While in college, she met Anthony Phipps, Sr., whom she began dating and happily married on September 20, 1987. In May 1989, Angella became a first time mother to daughter, Ashley Nicole. She then gave birth to her second child, son Anthony John in January 1993. While the couple were parenting two young children and living in Bermuda, Angella obtained her Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College (currently known as University of Boston).

In 1999, Angella and family relocated from Bermuda to Orlando, Florida where she pursued a career as a counselor at Cornerstone School in the Osceola County School System. Years later, she then transitioned to the Orange County School System and began her career as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Washington Shores Elementary. After having a successful career educating young students at this location, she began working at Maxey Elementary as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher.

Outside of her professional career as an educator, Angella enjoyed planting native Caribbean fruit trees in her backyard, shopping, spending time with close family and friends, and traveling to her second home, Bermuda. For the past 5 years, Angella has been a hands-on grandmother to her two granddaughters, Wesley Harper (5) and Teagan Noelle (2).

She is survived by her husband, Anthony Phipps Sr.; her father, Ivan Ellis; children, Ashley Nicole Thompson (son-in-law Donnelle Thompson) and Anthony Phipps Jr.; grandchildren, Wesley Harper Thompson and Teagan Noelle Thompson and siblings, Dermot Ellis (sister-in-law Syliva Ellis, niece Sophia Ellis and nephew Justin Ellis), Phillip Ellis (sister-in-law Donna Ellis, nieces Natasha and Sasha Ellis) Lorraine Ellis-Thompson (brother-in-law Austin Thompson, nephews Jamell Ellis, Kenard Thompson, Lamar Thompson, and Miles Thompson) Seymour Ellis (sister-in-law Leona Ellis, niece Crystal Ellis, nephew Carlton Ellis)

A visitation for Angella will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A funeral service will occur Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. A committal service will occur Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Rd, Gotha, FL 34734.
