Ann is survived by her sons, John, Robert, Carl and Charles. She has six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren whom she loved and adored, also sweet Minnie “her baby dog”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Nipper and Arthur Hazel, her husband of 34 years Senior Master Sergeant Frank Townsend, and daughter Susan Gail.
Ann was born on March 9, 1934 in Winter Garden, Florida. She was raised by her grandparents, JW and Sallie Hazel.
In 1956, at the age of 22 she married Frank and they raised five children. As a military family they lived in France, Germany, and several different states; they eventually moved back to Winter Garden where she was a stay-at-home mother. In her spare time, she loved to groom dogs in her garage.
She was also a great cook. She always enjoyed decorating for Christmas and getting all the family together.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She was always giving little gifts to her grandchildren -- from candy, to little toys or knicknacks, or taking them to the dollar tree and letting them get multiple items. They brought her so much joy! Ann cared deeply for her friends and would do anything she could to help in any way that she could. She will be dearly missed by many.
Rest in peace, Nanny.
A Committal Service will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Gotha, Florida.
