Mr. Smith served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He later owned and operated Bernie’s Auto Sales in Ellenville, New York for over 40 years. He was a member of Ellenville United Methodist Church and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Smith will also be remembered as an avid bowler who loved his family, cars, the New York Mets, and the Giants.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Betty Smith and his parents, Godfrey and Mae Smith.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra (John) Thompson and Denise (Cory) Kemp; grandchildren, Brian Ricotta, Kimberly Ricotta, and Zachary (Kendal) Kemp, and a host of cousins, extended family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. The celebration of life service will begin at 4 pm where entombment will following Woodlawn Memorial Park.
