A lifelong resident of Orlando and Winter Park, Betty Carol was committed to her Lord and Savior, a member of First Baptist Church of Orlando and a generous and longtime supporter of Campus Crusade for Christ, Samaritan's Purse, and College of the Ozarks among others. She shared her talents through singing in the choir and performing in the Singing Christmas Trees and Easter program. Betty Carol also made beautiful dresses and quilts, and in her later years, shared her immense sewing talents with those in need through the Humble Hands ministry.
Betty Carol was preceded in death by her husband Howard T. Powell, and daughter Sheryll Ford. She is survived by her children William P. Thomas, Jr. and Deborah McKinney; her grandchildren William Ford, Carol Bacon, Robert Ford, Brittney Thomas, William P. Thomas, III, Ashley Bates, Ryan McKinney, and Elizabeth Adams; and several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in Betty Carol’s memory to Samaritan's Purse or a charity of the donor’s choice.
A visitation will be held with the family at Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home at 1pm on Friday, January 6, 2023, with a memorial service following at 2pm.
