Brandon Hunter, 42, of Winter Garden Florida, passed away on September 12, 2023. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 24, 1980 to late Stanley Prophett Sr. and Carol Hunter. He was lovingly raised and reared by his late paternal-grandmother Lillie M. Milton, maternal grandparents Mildred Hunter and Arthur “Jay” Clark Jr., with special reverence to his Uncle Larry Hunter.
Brandon’s passion for basketball was ignited while attending Withrow High School, he also played for the All-Ohio AAU team. Brandon’s dominance on the court led him to later be inducted into the Withrow Athletic Hall of Fame. After high school Brandon took his talent to Ohio University, where he received his Bachelors of Science in Health and Human Services, with a minor in Organizational Communications.
Brandon’s prowess on the court while at OU lead him to gain recognition on the MAC All Freshman Team, selection to the All MAC first team and to lead the NCAA in rebounding during the 2002-2003 season. He would later be enshrined into the Ohio University’s Kermit Blosser Ohio Athletics Hall of Fame. As a player he was described as a leader with a winner’s attitude. He truly believed in being a “goal-getter and putting in the work.”
While at OU he met the love of his life, Dr. Mary Hunter, whom he affectionately referred to as “Peaches.” She would serve as the spirit that would encourage him to reach the highest of heights, all while grounding him to be the best husband and father to their three children, Andrew, Tristan, and Araminta.

During his career he was also a part of the Milwaukee Bucks, Charlotte Bobcats, and Cleveland Cavaliers organizations. Brandon played in both NBA Summer League and Developmental Leagues. After his years in the NBA, he would go off to play in some of the top leagues overseas in France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy and Turkey.
Upon his retirement from basketball Brandon focused his efforts on giving back to the youth and developing his business acumen. He served as a personal youth trainer with the Coach Up Program. Coach Up provided personal training sessions that concentrated on developing and motivating young aspiring athletes, continuing his goal-getter attitude. Brandon, used this initiative to continue to grow his legacy and leave an indelible mark on the future. Brandon would go on the become a licensed real-estate broker, earn his certificate in Business and Law of Sport, and become a NBPA and FIBA Certified Sport Agent.
Combining his love of basketball, experience in the NBA and overseas-leagues, and desire to support up and coming athletes, he developed Hunter Athlete Management. Hunter Athlete Management is a full- service agency that represents athletes worldwide. Brandon’s personal goal was focused on “maximizing the potential of his clients.” Brandon was a man who truly believed in the power of connection, good relationships, loyalty and taking care of those he loved.
